Lot 725 Savage Model 99 .250-3000 Sav #546935
American made lever action rifle chambered for .250-3000 Savage ammunition manufactured circa 1950 in Chicopee Falls, MA. It has an approximately 24" tapered blued barrel, blued receiver, dovetailed raised front blade sight, rear sight removed, lever lock, cocking indicator on tang, and serrated curved trigger. The furniture consists of a checkered schnabel forend, a semi-pistol grip Monte Carlo style buttstock with a smooth wrist, and a serrated metal buttplate. A two piece scope base is installed using the rear sight dovetail and the receiver, and an unmarked fixed power scope is mounted to it (fine crosshairs). The blued finish remaining is approximately 85% with minor edge wear, general thinning, and minor scratches. The metal shows small scattered rust spots. Most of the case color is gone on the lever, and it shows patina. The wood is good on the forend only having superficial scratches and dings. The buttstock is also good, and it looks like the buttstock may have been shortened, and there may have been re-contouring around the cheek weld. The length-of-pull is 13 7/8". The bore is very dirty, but appears to have strong rifling. The action is smooth and crisp. The scope and mounting hardware displays a good amount of handling marks.
